UMN Student Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in the field of evaluation and MESI!  We have opportunities for students and for experienced evaluators.  Read below to learn more.

For UMN Students: MESI Student Consultant and Graduate Assistantships

We have an exciting and diverse array of projects that vary by content, skills needed, experience needed, hours worked and more.  Opportunities become available on a rolling basis.

Who is eligible? To be eligible for a graduate research assistantship or student consultant position, students must be enrolled at least half time at the University of Minnesota for the semester(s) that the project will be conducted. Students must also have take at least one evaluation course or have comparable experience. Some acceptable evaluation courses include:

  • OLPD 5501 [EDPA 5501]/EPSY 5243—Principles & Methods of Evaluation (3 cr)
  • PA 5311—Program Evaluation (3 cr)
  • PUBH 6852—Program Evaluation in Health and Mental Health Settings (3 cr)
  • SW 8603

You will be required to complete a MESI Project Agreement upon hire. This document will specify the duties, credits, compensation agreed upon, and will require a signature from the student and the project manager.

Are you ready to get started?

  • STEP 1 – Submit a resume  and cover letter to MESI, mesi.umn@gmail.com no later than April 16th to be considered for summer internships or July 2nd to be considered for fall internships.
  • STEP 2 – You will receive an application form by e-mail to complete and submit.
  • STEP 3 – If you meet the criteria stated above, you will be invited for an interview with the MESI staff.
  • STEP 4- Visit our job board for current opportunities. Additional opportunities may become available once you have completed an interview.
